We are so glad you found us! We are a small hobby breeder of AKC registered long and smooth coat chihuahuas, located in the heart of Central MICHIGAN.

Our simple mission is to raise the most well rounded, healthy puppies we are capable of and find them each their perfect forever homes! This website will take you on a journey through how we got here, who we and our dogs are, and what our process looks like for potential families!

Welcome to cloud 9 chihuahuas!

Our parent dogs are thoroughly examined by a licensed veterinarian regularly, and always before breeding. We perform Embark DNA Health/Breed tests on all of our adults, as well as preliminary and age appropriate OFA checks on Patellas, Cardiovascular, and Eyes! Temperament is of the utmost importance, and all dogs in our home must be sound, well rounded members of our family!

Here at Cloud 9 Chihuahuas, we believe this breed can be a great fit for most lifestyles! All of our puppies are given the attention of our whole family (including 2 young toddlers) and every dog we own lives inside our home with us every single day. Our adult dogs are always our pets, first and foremost!

We are fully and deeply committed to each one of our puppies from birth until ... well, forever! We will be here for support for their families long before & after the day they go home.

We believe in providing our adult dogs with the richest life we can. As our pets, they join us on ventures, travels, and get to experience activites they enjoy like swimming, walking, and even "puppy parkour" when we visit parks with our children!

Many options are offered to bring your new puppy home to you! The one consistent thing among all of those options will be me, your breeder, doing each delivery/meet-up/pick up/drop off myself! I want to meet face to face every one of our customers, I cherish the relationship with our extended puppy families! The puppies are also most familiar with me, and I believe strongly in a positive association for them being transferred directly from our hands to yours! Plus, I love nothing more than a family's face the first time they meet their new best friend!

Meet your breeder

Hi! My name is Shelby Branch, and I am the owner and breeder behind Cloud 9. Alongside my husband and our 2 young children, this is truly a family effort and passion! I am also a homeschool mom, and we are home with our dogs for a majority of the time. I started breeding my first chihuahuas in 2019. I had much to learn early on, and over the last several years I have worked very hard to keep only the best quality dogs in our home and breeding program. I have a strong belief in fostering a good relationship between breeder and puppy families also! You should not only feel good about the specific puppy you've chosen, but equally as confident in the person responsible for them (and the same goes for me!)

I happened upon my love for this breed by accident. I was a young adult moving out on my own for the first time, and only a small dog was feasible for my space and lifestyle at the time. One day I saw a flyer posted locally for "red merle chihuahua puppies" and I just had to see them! They walked my Cooper and his siblings outside to meet me, and I haven't looked back since. Cooper has always been more than a dog to me. He is in every sense of the word, my best friend. We moved many times together early on, went all around the country on adventures, and truly experienced the seasons of life together. I started Cloud 9 Chihuahuas because I believe everyone deserves that connection with their own chihuahua! While I was so fortunate that Cooper had an outstanding temperament and has been the best companion to me, it became clearer as he aged that health wasn't highly regarded when he was produced. Which is another thing I focused my attention on when I started my own venture into this breed. These days, Cooper is an old man who spends all his time lounging around the house, and helping my children grow up. I will forever owe something so much bigger to him for sparking this life for me!

Since starting Cloud 9 Chihuahuas, my life has changed a lot. I was a single girl when things first took form. Now, it is no longer just me. My husband and two children are as dedicated and involved in this as me, and I am so grateful for it! These tiny dogs have changed our lives, and we are blessed to be the humans they look to and trust!
